Washington DC - The Saudi government is beheading and crucifying a convicted killer in Riyadh, just days prior to the arrival of American President Barack Obama, SIA has learned.
The crucifixion is set to take place in downtown Riyadh Friday afternoon, and will start by beheading the man then putting his body and severed head on display for few days in AlSaley neighborhood.
Obama is not expected to raise human rights issues with the Saudi government.
The condemned man was convicted of killing Abdullah AlKhudairi and his young son Mohamed two months ago inside his store, a crime that shocked the capital city. The planned execution raises questions about the Saudi judicial system, as the crime occurred only weeks ago, and legal procedures and assistant were absent. Ibrahim AlKhudairi, a chief judge in the courts of appeals in Riyadh might be related to the victims.
The Saudi court system relies on the Wahhabi interpretation of Islam and bans the appointment of Shia Muslims, non-Wahhabi Sunnis, and women in the justice system. Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world that executes convicts by beheading publicly. Al-Qaida and Taliban has also used beheadings in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. |
