Notorious torturer Lieutenant Salah Al-Mehtarish Al-Otaibi was killed in a car accident December 7th.
According to the Saudi Institute, Al-Otaibi tortured hundreds of prisoners in Mabahith Dammam headquarters (East) over the past years. He was involved in the torture death of Maytham Al-Bahhar, 20, who was killed September 1996. Al-Otaibi is to be named in a law suite to be filed by relatives of several victims in the US.
Al-Otaibi worked under another torturer General Suliman Al-Alwan former head of Dammam Mabahith, who tortured many including Said Ayas, the former business manager of Prince Mohamed Ben Fahd. Ayas fled the country in 1997 from house arrest to Paris, where he currently resides. Ayas was accused by Mohamed Ben Fahd of embezzling over $ 250 million, a charge Ayas dines. Al-Alwan was removed from his position shortly after to a remote region to punish him for his failure.
Al-Alwan has close ties with several Saudi diplomats in the Saudi Embassy in Washington. Several dozens Saudi students were arrested and tortured as result of this arraignment. |
